The engine also powers the hydraulics that drive the feed roller system. The hydraulic system incorporates a Sun- source pump with a displacement of 0.38 cu.in./rev. that drives a 12.5 cu.in./ rev. White feed roller motor. Flow to the feed roller motor is controlled by three valves.

Everything from engine horsepower, a new eight-row modular head, airflow, fuel capacity, basket capacity, and dump cycles have been improved to make the 7460 the most productive cotton stripper John Deere has ever built.The eight-row head has double flighting on the cross auger to provide smooth feeding of harvested cotton and to process higher volumes of crop as it enters the stripper. It is also extremely versatile and can adjust to most row spacings or configurations. When raising the header, more clearance has been designed into the unit to help prevent damage.

"The three new machines are aimed at different sections of the backhoe loader market," said Kevin Hershberger, senior marketing engineer backhoe loaders. "The 416D is targeted to the rental services, utilities and DCA. The 420D/IT is targeted to the owner/operators and building construction markets while the 430D/IT is targeted to the owner/operators, building or construction contractors as well as the sewer and water contractors." The new loaders are similar to the C-Series in many areas and in some cases use the same components as the C-Series machines. For example, the frame and many drivetrain components are either very similar or direct carryovers from the earlier machines. "The main area of difference between the new D-Series and the old C-Series is the hydraulic system and the cab interior," said Jon Carman, commercial marketing manager for backhoe loaders.

Though light in weight, Airbor magnetic drill has a powerful 1.6-hp air motor and 1,600-lb magnetic holding strength. With its extra rack, stroke length is extended to 10 1/4 in. Annular cutter capacity is up to 2 1/16 in. diam. Geared chuck adapter converts the unit to a standard drill press.
