The second manner in which the modularity of the 3T system sped our development is that the architecture allows the independent development and testing of groups of ALS subsystems and a subsequent incremental integration of these subsystems (figure 8). This aspect of the control development became important for the WRS team in dealing with the startup time of the BWP. The microbes in the BWP take one to two months to form viable colonies to process feed water. This inoculation period meant that bringing the other subsystems into test would be delayed by at least one to two months, and even longer if the inoculations became problematic.

* Don''t spray windows. The high pressure can break them.Better cleaning with detergentsDetergents (about $6 to $14 a gallon) and accessory brushes increase cleaning effectiveness while reducing cleaning time. When renting or buying a pressure washer, inquire what accessories and detergents are available for it. To prevent damage to the internal parts, never run bleach in the machine or use detergents not designated for use in pressure washers.Detergents can only be run through pressure washers using a wide spray pattern. In addition, electric pressure washers require a low-pressure setting on the spray wand. Follow your machine''s instructions for using detergents, diluting the detergent and (if necessary) hooking up a chemical injector (Photo 1). For the best cleaning results, first loosen the dirt with plain water under high pressure using a medium spray pattern. Next, apply the detergent using a wide nozzle setting and let the detergent sit a few minutes to penetrate the dirt. Keep the surface wet to avoid possible discoloration or damage y the detergent. Finish by resetting the nozzle to a medium pattern (or changing the nozzle) and rinsing with plain water. Switch detergents by draining the first detergent from the pressure washer, rinsing the system with plain water and introducing the next detergent.

Frequency of snoring is not reduced, only intensity. "It''s like tightening the tension on a stringed instrument," says Shepard. "The low-frequency guttural sound goes away," leaving patients with "airy breathing" that''s tolerable to bed partners.But snorers may have to endure the ordeal again if results are not achieved, which happens "not infrequently," says Shepard. And interior tissue "lifts"--like their exterior cousins--may have a limited life span. "The concern now is that in five or 10 years, sagging will return along with louder snoring," says John Campana, M.D., a throat surgeon at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. "Skin also becomes less elastic as you age, which can counteract the surgery."
