This exercise was conducted to improve performance of an existing open center system. Reduced horsepower consumption also resulted in the elimination of the oil cooler. Correct sizing of components is essential for maximizing system efficiency. Simply evaluating the cost of each component will obscure the overall savings achieved by integrating a complete system.A significant benefit to this system versus pressure compensation is the simplicity. Compensators can misbehave. An open center valve has far fewer moving parts and rarely suffers front debris getting lodged in small opening. Anyone who has been in the position of analyzing a pressure compensated valve problem in the field can attest to the difficulty of determining what combination of factors brought on rite problem. The fewer the variables the better. Choosing the wrong tool can also overwork the user. For a given bit size and material, it takes more effort and strength to make a hole with a hammer drill than with a rotary hammer. This is a matter of weight distribution and leverage: With a rotary hammer, the heft of the tool itself provides much of the drilling force; hammer drills are much more dependent on pressure applied by the operator. This isn''t necessarily a problem for drilling an occasional hole or two, but for heavy repetitive use, a rotary hammer is the clear winner.

Though light in weight, Airbor magnetic drill has a powerful 1.6-hp air motor and 1,600-lb magnetic holding strength. With its extra rack, stroke length is extended to 10 1/4 in.
